Authorization process

Authorization process for new financial intermediaries

  • What is the optimal way to carry out the process to request an authorization to establish and start operations of a regulated financial entity in Mexico?
  • What are the main elements to consider in this process (e. g., business plan, IT plan, information security)?
  • What is the required investment that complies with all regulatory aspects (e.g., risk-adjusted capitalization, liquidity, etc.)?

We have almost 20 years of experience in the Mexican financial sector accompanying multiple players throughout the process of incorporating new financial intermediaries, shareholders’ changes, and evolution to different regulated entities of existing operations, including detailed evaluation of projects, and structuring of business and operational plans. Our work includes helping in the preparation of general operating plans, financial projections and policies and operation manuals.

We have participated in more than 30 initiatives that have been authorized or are in the process of being authorized by regulators in Mexico. These projects include Commercial Banks, Electronic Payment Fund Institutions (Fintechs), Savings and Loans Institutions, Pension Funds, Brokerage Houses, Regulated Sofomes and a new Stock Exchange.
